Introduction :
The ISO 11925-2 flammability standard by ISO is a standard by which plastic materials and furnishing materials can be classified with respect to their ability to withstand combustion. The rating of flammability given to a plastic material depends upon the response of the material to heat and flame under controlled laboratory conditions. The test results will give a good indication of the material’s acceptability with respect to flammability for a particular application. The behaviour to heat and flame of a thermoplastic depends on many factors such as the size, form, and end-use of the product, but also elements in the final application such as ease of ignition, burning rate, flame spread, fuel addition, intensity of burning, will affect the combustion response of the material.
